For spring break I went to one of my favorite countries, Japan. The fashion, the people, the culture…Japan is everything. By now you guys know that even on vacation I like to network and make invaluable business connections.

While in Japan, my team secured a meeting with the iconic Japanese contemporary artist, Takashi Murakami. As an artist myself, I’d been dying to meet him for years and it was finally happening. I was so grateful that Mr. Murakami was opening his creative bubble to me.

DadYe has collaborated with Mr. Murakami on a couple of album covers and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the experience. I had to work with this genius.

I was hoping that Mr. Murakami would be down to collaborate with me on my upcoming project, a line of luxury keychains. My plan was to pitch him the idea at the studio. It would be ideal to launch around the same time that my movie, Paw Patrol 2, hits theaters.

This meeting was a big deal to me, so I wanted to share this special experience with my family. I invited Mommy and her kids to join me at Mr. Murakami’s studio. Mommy has already been to the studio, but this was about me. I wanted everyone to see how I work. They needed to see what goes into building a brand, building relationships, and closing deals.

This was a decision I would soon regret.
