SKKN BYE KIM
Lessons learned, money lost, and Mommy to blame
Over the summer, I made the difficult decision to shut down SKKN BY KIM.
Sometimes we get it wrong, and I can admit, we missed the mark on this one. I wholeheartedly believed in our products and the goals we set out to achieve with this brand, but the price points were too high for our consumers. It’s painfully obvious that most of you can’t afford a $95 vitamin C serum.
Who knew?
When creating SKKN, we thought about what we would want in a skincare line and how much the 1% would be willing to pay for each product. What we didn’t think about was…the rest of you. Luckily, I’m surrounded by people like the Malikas, Dream, and a host of makeup artists and hairdressers who have been educating me on the purchasing habits and lifestyles of everyday people.
It’s been eye-opening.
I’m learning that some of you buy your skincare from a drugstore. From toner to face wash, even your moisturizer is purchased in the same aisle as Doritos. My heart breaks for you.
